Suns Burn Past Jazz
Few games matter in the race to the playoffs as the ones in which the Phoenix Suns find themselves jumping against the Utah Jazz. Having already swept the Suns in their last two meetings this season, Utah was looking for their third win to maintain their seed position over Phoenix before the teams' final match-up on April 14th. Right out of the gate the Suns were ready to play a game of basketball that Utah [...]

The Sports Retorter: It’s officially time to put the “cheap” tag to rest when it comes to the Phoenix Suns
Cheap [cheep] adjective,-er, -est, adverb, noun –adjective Stingy; miserly: He's too cheap to buy his own brother a cup of coffee or keep a first round NBA draft pick. If you ask one of the many Suns' fans in Phoenix to sum up the team and its ownership in a single word, one of the most popular answers would be the word "cheap". Too bad it's not accurate. We've all, at least once, taken a "cheap" shot at [...]

Is this the night the “TNT Curse” comes to an end?
It seemed pretty much like a normal, every day win for the Phoenix Suns. Amare Stoudemire scored 25 points and Shaquille O'Neal added 16 points and 15 rebounds as the Suns beat Portland 111-98 at the Rose Garden. The win was the Suns' fifth straight, and it pushed their overall record to 45-22, which at the time, was just a game behind the Los Angeles Lakers in [...]

Brownie Points: It’s (not always) good to be the King
Before we even get to the bottom of this whole Tiger Woods deal, a quick question: The last time the police came to your house, twice, asking to talk to you and your wife told them you were sleeping and to come back another time … just how do that work out for you, exactly? [caption id="" align="alignright" width="296" caption="Photo: Oneasianworld.com"][/caption]I’m not sure where El Tigre was [...]

Brownie Points: One rude interruption later…where were we?
I think what cinched it was a journalism convention I attended in high school. An old sports columnist was holding court in a seminar, describing his occupation to a group of wide-eyed wanna-be's. “We’re the guys who watch the battle from the trees, then come down afterward and shoot the wounded,” he croaked enough to show off a coffee-stained smile. Needless to say, I was hooked. I couldn’t hit, throw, shoot, [...]

In the Zona - The We Have Somewhere to Be Edition - 12/15/08
Photo: Ron Antonelli/NY Daily News On Monday's edition of In the Zona, Greg and Vince took the straight forward approach, churning through the issues in a business-like manner. Hell, they blew through this thing so quick, they acted like they were double parked. The topics discussed were the Cardinals' awful performance against Minnesota, Jason Richardson's debut against Orlando and preparing for Hurricane D'Antoni to blow through [...]

D’Antoni blames Sarver while Sarver blames D’Antoni
Mike D'Antoni apparently can't leave well enough alone. In an interview with the New York Post's Peter Vecsey, D'Antoni took his former bosses, Robert Sarver and Steve Kerr, to task. "It really burned that we had four straight years of competing at the highest level, yet, in the end, (management's) attitude was like we didn't win a championship so we didn't do nothing," declared D'Antoni, whose teams during that stretch averaged 58 victories. [...]
