The Arizona State Sun Devils opened up their 2010 season as they were expected to--with a good old fashioned butt whooping against the Portland State Vikings. The Devils fell behind 3-0 in the first quarter but rebounded quite nicely to notch a 54-9 win.

Word from Tempe on Monday is that Arizona State head coach Dennis Erickson won't name his starting quarterback for the season opener September 4th against Portland State until next Monday, or five days before the first game.
Erickson said on Saturday following a scrimmage at Sun Devil Stadium that he'd like to make an announcement as soon as possible. I guess that means Monday.
