blackout
Remember the days when the only time you heard the term "avoiding the blackout" associated with the Arizona Cardinals was when you tried to stay conscious during one of their numerous stomach wrenching defeats? Those days are long gone and the feeling has been gone at least as long as Denny Green has. Since their move from Sun Devil Stadium to University of Phoenix Stadium (not only [...]

(AP Photo/Paul Connors) The best way to describe Sunday's game at USAC it's probably to begin with the end, as Dallas came back in the fourth quarter from a 14-point deficit to beat Phoenix 105-98. A 16-0 Dallas run left the Suns with no answers. Phoenix scored 2 points in eight minutes during the fourth quarter missing 12 straight shots before Stoudemire scored a couple on a dunk with 3:40 [...]

James Harden

Boy, what a great day to be an Arizona sports fan! All four major teams in the state won!

The Phoenix Suns took care of the Dallas Mavericks at US Airways Arena, as Steve Nash scored 24 points, dished out 13 assists and pulled down six boards in Phoenix's 109-97 win over a short-handed Dallas Mavericks in the league's final game before the All-Star break.

Diaw v. Mavericks
(AP Photo/Matt York) Stoudemire and Barbosa scored 26 points each while Steve Nash added 24 points and 13 rebounds as the Suns beat the Mavs, 109-97, in the final game before the All-Star break last night. The Suns' gritty performance and good shooting (41-for-72 on FG), especially in the 4th quarter, was the difference as the Mavs were outscored 32-24 in the final period. The game was contested down [...]

Jason Kidd to the Mavs?
(AP Photo/Matt Slocum) So I wrote yesterday briefly about the Jason Kidd trade to the Mavs, which at the time seemed imminent. However, after a couple of interesting developments, maybe not so much. The first is that role player Devean George exercised his option to veto the trade. He does not have a no-trade option, but rather a little-known and little-used option because of his second [...]

Marion and Dirk Nowitzki
(AP Photo/Tony Gutierrez) The Mavs took an early lead (37-20 after one quarter of play) and held off a possible comeback by the Suns in the final minutes to win the game 108-105. Dallas never trailed in the game as the "zero lead changes" in the boxscore could confirm. Despite that it was possibly the best, at least the most entertaining, game of the year. It [...]

Golden State looking to down the all-mighty Mavs take series lead 3-1

(AFP/Getty Images/Jed Jacobsohn)

I'm the superstitious sort of fan.  I think all of us are a little bit (hey, at least I'm not as superstitious as Vash!!).  So let's not go and declare this series against the Lakers over yet.  Remember that the Suns were down 3-1 against the Lakers last year and somehow pulled out three wins against the Lakers [...]

Suns beat down the Mavs
Let's compare MVP candidate performances today:

Nowitzki:  21 points, 33% shooting, 6 rebounds, 6 assists

Nash:  23 points, 64% shooting, 3 rebounds, 11 assists

Like I said previously, this is only one game and one game does not (at least, it should not) determine who the MVP is.  But in a close race, a performance against your closest competitor in the MVP race could change a few votes.

The Mavs come to town...
Since the game is in the afternoon tomorrow, I figured I would get the game thread up early so we can discuss it.

The last Dallas/Phoenix test before the post-season is tomorrow.  In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter?  Probably not.  But it sure would be nice for the Suns to beat the Mavs one more time before the end of the season.  To go
