The Phoenix Coyotes are not just an under the bubble franchise wasting
away unappreciated in some desert that doesn’t care about them. They
have a fan base, most of you reading these words are probably part of
that fan base in some form or fashion. Just like Winnipeg before us,
we are embattled on all sides and like our Canadian brethren, we are going
to do everything in our power to keep our team. Our hearts go out to
them and we hope that the faithful in Southern Ontario will get a new team
once this battle is won. We promise to help them however possible when their
new battle begins.
We are a family, trying to save a
beloved member, The Phoenix Coyotes.
Everyone is trying to do their
part.
Commissioner Gary Bettman and the NHL
are involved in court
proceedings even as I type. They are passionately committed to
retaining control of the franchise and to keeping it right here where
it belongs. There are several investor groups who are putting their
money where their hearts are to purchase the Coyotes and keep them in
their home at Jobing.com Arena. The NHL is working diligently to get
those opportunitites to the purchase stage as soon as possible.
The City of Glendale
is considering changes to their relationship
(making it possible to find a buyer that will committ to keeping the
team here). They have woken up and smelled the bacon. They don’t need
to make a humongous profit, just a profit. They don’t want to kill the
goose that is laying golden eggs (or repaying the building investment
as it were). They are working hard with the NHL to give the Coyotes a
chance to make some real money. (Everyone close to the team really
believes we are close…even Moyes probably believes, but just can’t
wait at this juncture). Tough economics make for strange bedfellows.
Every corporate enterprise in the world have been implementing
strategies to stay alive. Individual and corporate entertainment
budgets for nearly every walk of life have been pared down (some pared
down to nothing) so sports industries are being hit pretty hard, our
beloved Coyotes are no exception.
Now is the time for the Coyotes fans to step up
and do our part. We need to get the word out that we are here
and that we care. Use the contact lists on this site to write our various
City Officials and theNHL to let them know our feelings. Let them see our
passion and ourspirit and our love of Phoenix Coyotes and the
sport of ice hockey. Join in the rallies, get your signs in your yards, if you
Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or blog, post your opinions, use the SavetheCoyotes
avatars and logos to show your solidarity. Repost, reTweet and email
your friends and families to help promote the cause. Perhaps the most
important way we can show our devotion is to put our dollars (no
matter how meager) into deposits and purchases for season tickets and
donations where possible to the cause of purchasing tickets for
charity by supporting the SavetheCoyotes fundraising efforts.
It is time to show the world that the words ‘non-traditional market’
mean absolutely nothing. When it comes to the love of hockey we are
just as passionate, involved and committed as any fans have ever been.
Our team needs you, don’t let them down. Show your support, let’s howl
together and help keep them in their home at Jobing.com Arena.
