Following yesterday’s Virginia Beach, VA declaration that Tuesday July 7th, 2009 is “Vote for Mark Reynolds” Day, Senator John McCain has now officially announced his endorsement of Mark Reynolds on Fox Sports Arizona’s broadcast of last night’s the Diamondbacks game.
He also promised FSN’s Todd Walsh that he would follow up his verbal endorsement with a Tweet to his nearly 1 million Twitter followers (right now it is roughly at 964,000)…And the Senator came through with his promise minutes later:
Vote for Mark Reynolds for All-Star! He is a great athlete and an outstanding role model. Go D-backs, 3 in a row!
He may have messed up on the current streak, which is now four games, but his 964,000 followers could in fact be the push that Mark Reynolds needed. Yesterday he climbed to 3rd in the “Final Vote” and perhaps with the vote of confidence will move even higher today.
The only problem with McCain’s endorsement: it’ll certainly cement that Mark Reynolds will finish a close 2nd in the “Final Vote”…and its a real shame, because the kid deserves to be an All-Star.
