There’s no other way to put it…ASU soiled the bed in their first round Pac-10 Tournament loss to Stanford. Not only did co-host Travis Johnson take the loss hard, it made him physically sick. Travis joins Luke Lapinski and myself for the Friday edition of The Show To Be Named Later on Fanster.com.
Segment 1 (0:00) - ASU may have strangled its own chances for an NCAA Tournament bid with their worst performance of the season, a 70-61 loss to Stanford on Thursday. We break down the loss, ASU’s nearly invisible chances to make the big dance and then we take solace in the fact that U of A won’t be in the tournament for the first time in a quarter century.
Segment 2 (27:23) - The well-rested Phoenix Suns are back on the court tonight to host Kobe Bryant and the Western Conference-leading Los Angeles Lakers. We talk about the team, and then get into why it’s so hard to be a Suns fan these days.
Segment 3 (52:41) - LEFTOVERS! Here we discuss the Phoenix Coyotes, annoying Canucks’ fans, the potentially crippling news about Brandon Webb and the Diamondbacks, the Cardinals visiting with free agents, problems at Oregon with the football team, and who was the better Steve Prefontaine on the silver screen, Billy Crudup or Jared Leto? Seriously.
STBNL 3/12/10 - ASU’s depressing performance

Yes, it’s true. Today’s STBNL is a one-man endeavor, and we all know that no good can come from one-man endeavors, right? No co-host, no problem. As they say in show business…and podcasting…the show (to be named later) must go on!
Segment 1 (0:00) - March Madness is here, with most of the conference tournaments underway around the country. I discuss the Pac-10 Tournament and ASU’s still dicey (according to most) chances to get into the NCAA Tourney for the 2nd straight year.
Segment 2 (21:41) - The Phoenix Coyotes are back on the ice tonight against the Vancouver Canucks, who are wrapping up a road trip that has lasted longer than some world concert tours. But that’s not the big story with the Coyotes. A Canadian newspaper is reporting that the NHL, who owns the team, is filing a lawsuit against Jerry Moyes, who ran the team into the ground used to run the team. Oh, and that Ice Edge group that was supposed to buy the team might be having trouble coming up with the capital to purchase them. Lovely.
Segment 3 (33:10) - LEFTOVERS! The warmed up leftovers include Derek Anderson making athlete history, Nomar hanging up his sox, a disgraced drug cheat is back in pro sports, the world gets what it really needs–another college bowl game, NFL prospects “dating” their sisters and the death of troubled actor Corey Haim.
STBNL 3/10/10 - All by myself…don’t wanna be

Luke Lapinski and Travis Johnson join me for a spirited Monday edition of The Show to Be Named Later on Fanster.com.
Segment 1 (0:00) - 22 wins. A 12-6 record good for a 2nd place finish in the Pac-10. With credentials like those, any other year, we’d be speculating on what seed the Arizona State Sun Devils will receive in the upcoming NCAA Basketball Tournament. This year, we’re wondering if they’ll even get in. We discuss ASU’s chances, why the experts are down on them this season, and what will likely happen in this week’s Pac-10 Basketball Tournament in Los Angeles.
Segment 2 (29:47) - The Arizona Cardinals were hit hard by player exits over the weekend. Anquan Boldin, after two years of bickering and rumors, was finally unloaded to Baltimore, while free agents Karlos Dansby and Antrel Rolle signed enormous contracts with the Dolphins and Giants respectively. So, how big are these losses for the Cardinals? Let’s just say the three of us disagree on the matter…
Segment 3 (50:36) - LEFTOVERS! We fire up the microwave to hit some Monday leftovers including the rumor circulating that the Coyotes will end up in Winnipeg in time for next season, and the latest legal flap surrounding Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. And we open up the STBNL Mailbag.
STBNL 3/8/10 - How will the Sun Devils get the hose this year?

Ok, so the title of this podcast gives the listener absolutely no indication about what the content of the show is. Doug Fister is actually mentioned during today’s show–listen for it. It’s funny. Luke Lapinski and Travis Johnson join me for the XL Three-man Friday edition of the Show To Be Named Later.
Segment 1 (0:00) - Hoops, hoops and more hoops. ASU gets a big win as Rihards Kuksiks breaks out of his slump against USC. We talk about the Sun Devils’ chances to get a share of the Pac-10 title, and their hopes of getting an NCAA Tournament bid. We also discuss the Suns and their tough loss to the Utah Jazz on Thursday night.
Segment 2 (29:55) - The Phoenix Coyotes change up the look of their team with 7 trades before the deadline, and then get goals from two of their new players in a big 3-1 win over Colorado on Thursday. We pick Luke’s brain on the changes the team made, what went wrong with Peter Mueller and all things Phoenix Coyotes. Travis was very quiet during this segment, but I assure you, he was still in the room.
Segment 3 (50:13) - Leftovers! We talk about the beginning of NFL Free Agency, Cactus League Baseball (with a possible Doug Fister) reference, and women’s college basketball player Brittany Griner’s sucker punch of an opponent, and the joke of a punishment that was handed out. And we open the mailbag for the latest salvo in the “Lloyd” vs. Greg Esposito war.
STBNL 3/5/10 - Hi, I’m Doug Fister

It’s a glorious day here in the Valley of the Sun, because it marks the beginning of Cactus League play, the best time of the year for casual sports viewing. Bruce Jacobs of Fox Sports Radio joins me to discuss this and the topics of the day on The Show To Be Named Later on Fanster.com…
Segment 1 (0:00) - Cactus League play begins today around the Valley, so Bruce and I talk about it, compare spring training baseball to the preseasons in other pro sports, and talk about what the Diamondbacks did this offseason to lead both of us to think that they’ll be in the thick of the NL West race this season.
Segment 2 (36:00) - With the Olympics done, Bruce tells us why the NHL won’t be able to capitalize on the hockey buzz that’s happening right now (I’ll give you a hint why it won’t capitalize–his initials are G.B.) and we talk Coyotes’ hockey. Should their performance on Tuesday night in a loss to St. Louis be a red flag. And we talk about the team’s wheeling and dealing on trade deadline day in the NHL.
Segment 3 (59:47) - We fire up the microwave for some Leftovers–we talk about Tiger’s approval ratings, the new cast of Dancing With the Stars and the star of the hilarious Old Spice commercial having local ties.
STBNL 3/3/10- Spring Training Baseball is here!

Greg Esposito, previously accused by an STBNL listener of having less personality than a Tiger Woods press conference, joins me for the Tuesday edition of the Show To Be Named Later on Fanster.com.
Segment 1 (0:00) - With the Phoenix Suns getting great play from their young players (namely Robin Lopez and Goran Dragic) and Amare Stoudemire deciding to play up to his potential, the Phoenix Suns are playing arguably their best basketball of the year–including last night’s 101-85 win over the Denver Nuggets at U.S. Airways Center in Downtown Phoenix. Greg and I talk about the game, overcoming the heartbreaking loss in San Antonio (a missed dunk? Really?) and the favorable upcoming schedule for the Suns.
Segment 2 (21:47) - The Olympics are over, and now it’s back to the ice for the NHL including the Phoenix Coyotes, who sit in fourth place in the Western Conference with 19 games to play. We talk about whether or not the Olympics will lead to increased popularity for the NHL, and how the Coyotes should fare the rest of the way.
Segment 3 (37:34 ) - LEFTOVERS! We discuss the Diamondbacks making Justin Upton a rich young man, the beginning of Cactus League play, the fact that people are still giving Michael Jordan way too much respect, the new playoff rule in the NFL and suffering from Tim Tebow overload. And, we open up the STBNL Mailbag and let Greg answer his critics once and for all.
STBNL 3/02/10 - Don’t look now, but the Suns are in a nice spot

It’s the return of the Extra Large Three-Man Edition of the Show To Be Named Later with myself, Luke Lapinski and Travis Johnson opining on the sports world here on Fanster.com. Oh, and special guest Satan joins us periodically throughout the show (turns out, he’s a fan).
Segment 1 (0:00) - Reflections on the Eric Boateng Show that took place in Palo Alto last night. Boateng was a perfect 11 for 11 from the field in leading ASU to a 68-60 win over Stanford, and setting up a first place showdown with Cal on Saturday. We also discuss whether or not the Cal game is the biggest game in ASU basketball history?
Segment 2 (30:04) - The Cardinals rewarded head coach Ken Whisenhunt and GM Rod Graves with new contacts. We discuss that and the difficult offseason Graves and the Cardinals’ front office face heading into the 2010 season.
Segment 3 (50:37)- Leftovers anyone? In this segment, we discuss Olympic hockey, and Luke’s bold prediction for the gold medal, the Suns recent success, a first round pick getting sent to the D-League, and the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
STBNL 2/26/10 - The XL Three-Man Edition–with special guest Satan

Mark Weber joins the Show To Be Named Later for possibly the last time on Thursday. Mark went ahead and got a damn job, so he’s opting to be a productive American citizen, much to the chagrin of yours truly. Seriously, I’m all for economic recovery and the lessening of the unemployment rate in this country, as long as it doesn’t affect the co-host rotation of STBNL.
Segment 1 (0:00) - Web and I discuss another Suns victory and the possibilities of them making some noise in the playoffs…
Segment 2 (24:54) - ASU Hoops has its biggest weekend in a while, as they travel to the Bay Area to play Stanford and Cal. The possibility exists that the Sun Devils could return to the Valley with sole possession of first place in their hip pocket.
Segment 3 (48:58) - We heat up some leftovers including: Olympic hockey and NBC’s coverage decisions, the NBA cracking down on a “huge problem”, PETA attempting to prove they have a sense of humor and the final piece of the puzzle for the Seattle Seahawks. Plus, Web updates the Marcus Jordan Toteboard and we open the STBNL Mailbag!
STBNL 2/25/10 - They’re dropping like flies!

Yes, it’s me and just me, Vince Marotta on today’s STBNL, indicating that either it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to find co-hosts or that nobody likes me.
Segment 1 (0:00) - The Phoenix Suns continued their recent uptick with an impressive win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in OKC last night. They did it without Steve Nash and they did it again with defense, clamping down on Kevin Durant and the boys in the final 5 minutes of the game to grab the ‘w’. I also look at the Suns’ remaining schedule, and why it has me optmistic for the rest of the season.
Segment 2 (16:03) - Arizona State (and the Pac-10 for that matter) have got to feel a little like the Rodney Dangerfield of college basketball–nobody respects them. The Sun Devils prepare for their weekend matchups against Stanford and Cal, with a chance to grab sole possession of first place in the conference with just two games to play. I discuss the perceived lack of respect for the team and the conference, go over the reasons why it’s a down year in the Pac-10, and even get ASU guard Derek Glasser’s thoughts on the matter.
Segment 3 (33:18) - Still hungry? Time for some leftovers. Among the reheated topics today–Olympic hockey, ESPN’s ridiculous suspension of Tony Kornheiser, Scott Van Pelt getting punked on the air, and the death of a Simpsons legend. Plus, we open up the STBNL Mailbag!
STBNL 2/24/10 - No voice, no problem…I’m flying solo!

Bruce Jacobs of Fox Sports Radio joins the Tuesday festivities of “The Show To Be Named Later”, and yes, there’s a very shocking admission during the contents of this show.
Segment 1 (0:00) - The Phoenix Suns are the topic, and Bruce shares his thoughts on the Suns’ recent activity (or lack thereof), and we discuss whether or not this team has a plan for the long term.
Segment 2 (27:04) - Tiger is reportedly in Arizona, but it’s not to play in the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Scottsdale. Rumor had Tiger flying into Mesa’s Gateway Airport and heading to Wickenburg (which is lovely at this time of the year) for further rehab. Bruce and I unload on all things Tiger in this segment.
Segment 3 (51:56) - Bruce has Olympic hockey fever, and is looking forward to camping out in front of the television for all four Qualifying Games on Tuesday. We talk Olympic hockey, and look at what’s gone on in Vancouver for the last week-plus as a whole.
STBNL 2/23/10 - A shocking revelation!
