D-backs recall Roberts from Triple-A Reno, release Crosby

Sprecher Photo via NewscomPHOENIX) — The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today they have recalled infielder/outfielder Ryan Roberts from Triple-A Reno and released infielder Bobby Crosby, according to interim General Manager Jerry Dipoto.

Roberts, 29, hit .265 (92-for-347) with 62 runs scored, 25 doubles, 2 triples, 11 homers, 55 RBI and 56 walks in 94 games for the Aces while posting a .365 on-base percentage and a .444 slugging percentage. In 12 games for the D-backs from May 25-June 20, he hit .176 (3-for-17) with a run scored, a double and 3 RBI.

Crosby, 30, was acquired along with outfielder Ryan Church and right-handed pitcher D.J. Carrasco from the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 31 for catcher Chris Snyder, infielder Pedro Ciriaco and cash considerations. Crosby hit .167 (2-for-12) with 2 doubles and 2 RBI in 9 games for the D-backs. In a combined 70 games for the D-backs and Pirates, he batted .220 (37-for-168) with 9 runs scored, 10 doubles, a homer and 13 RBI.
