Former Padre ace Jake Peavy picked up his first win this spring for the Chicago White Sox and looked impressive doing so going three innings allowing two hits and no walks while striking out three Los Angeles Angels batters. Closer Bobby Jenks did not match Peavy’s success as he came in during the third inning and allowed five runs to score on four hits and a walk. Former D-back pitcher Tony Pena continued to impress throwing a perfect 1.2 innings of work for the Sox.
Angels starter Joe Saunders did not share the same success as his counterpart allowing four runs on five hits lasting only 1.2 innings. White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham and outfielder Alex Rios would be the offensive stars of the day knocking in two runs each.
