The Lopez twins continue to confuse people

Remember last year when the Rookie of the Year balloting was released?

Of course, Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls ran away with the hardware, with O.J. Mayo of Memphis finishing second and Brook Lopez of the Nets finishing third.

robin-lopez-vs-brook-lopezThe really interesting thing, as written about here on Fanster.com, was that one voter (who apparently didn’t pay much attention) cast a second place vote for Suns’ center (and Brooke’s twin) Robin Lopez, who struggled mightily for a good portion of his first season in the NBA.

Well, the confusion in differentiating the Lopez Brothers has happened again.

In a recent interview with Dave D’Alessandro of the Newark Star-Ledger, Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban reminisced about being a season ticket holder for the Dallas Mavericks in 1992-93 and 1993-94. This was long before Cuban bought the team, and long before they were the competitive team they are today (24 wins combined in the two seasons).

But Cuban could see a resemblance between those Mavericks and this year’s New Jersey Nets, who are off to a horrific record-setting 0-18 start to the season.

“So it wasn’t obvious we had a nice young core. Because you can say the same thing now, looking at the Nets: Devin Harris, , Yi. . . .you’ve got a lot of guys that have a really good future ahead of them.”

Umm, Mark, wrong Lopez.

Owners don’t get Rookie of the Year votes, do they?
