Arizona Cardinals’ rookie LaRod Stephens-Howling was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week earlier today.
Stephens-Howling returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown in Arizona’s 20-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. He also downed three punts inside the Tennessee 5-yard line and delivered a crushing tackle of Tennessee’s Michael Griffin on a kickoff in the 2nd quarter.
Stephens-Howling is the fifth Cardinals player to win a weekly award this season and the second to win the special teams honor. Defensive end Calais Campbell won the honor back in week 2, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (week 5) and Adrian Wilson (week 7) have each won the NFC Defensive Player of the Week award, while quarterback Kurt Warner took the offensive honors in week 9.
