My heart hurts for Kyle Williams.
This is a kid that gave his heart and soul for Arizona State for the past four seasons.
He’s the senior that single-handedly brought the Sun Devils back into today’s 20-17 last-second loss to the Arizona Wildcats.
He’ll always be remembered now as the player who muffed away a potential victory in the 83rd Territorial Cup.
And that’s just downright not fair.
You could see it in his posture immediately after the incident which led to Alex Zendejas’ game-winning boot, in his demeanor when Arizona was lining up for the field goal and in his inconsolable position on the bench after the game, with Terell Carr and Spencer Gasu consoling him.
That’s not how it’s supposed to end.
As you all know, I’m very careful to maintain journalistic integrity and objectivity on Pitchfork Nation despite the feeling that I share with all of you; a deep-seated love for the Arizona State Sun Devils.
But honesty trumps it right now when I talk about just how much this one truly hurts.
Sometimes I joke around that I don’t have the words to describe something and then ramble on for a while.
This is where this article ends because I’m literally too numb to say anything else.
More later. Now, it’s time to welcome basketball season.
