2 Sorta Hat Tricks, 1 Near Miss and A Little Redemption for the Yotes

Share

We are going to rearrange a few rules for the Coyotes vs Dallas game on Saturday night. Normally a hat trick consists of 3 goals by a single player in a single game. Well, after tonight’s performance I am handing out 2 “honorary” hat tricks to Matt Lombardi and Scottie Upshall for both chalking up 3 assists each!! Amazing teamwork and discipline.

Then there was the near miss by Lauri Korpikoski. Not only did this game mark his first goal this season but that just wasn’t enough so he lit the lamp again and came dangerously close to a real hat trick.

This game marked a little redemption for the Coyotes who took a whooping in the Great White North for the 2 past games. Especially rough was the 4-0 loss against the Edmonton and then they took a 2-1 loss in Calgary.

They started out strong against the Dallas Stars and racked up an impressive 4 goals in the first two periods without an answer from Dallas. At that point the Stars yanked goaltender Marty Turco. We managed to score again in the 3rd period, making it 5-0. But my hockey buddy had to jinx it by saying “I’d like to see a shutout” and sure enough the Stars rallied and got 2 goals in the 3rd. Note to him and any other hockey fan..NEVER predict a win or a score…EVER!!

The goals weren’t enough to bridge our impressive gap and the final score was 5-2 Coyotes. Other goal scorers included Adrian Aucoin, Zbynek Michalek (welcome back) and Robert Lang.

And it’s free burrito supremes throughout the land!!!

Let’s Puck!
