Back in 2002, many schools were hot after Mike Nixon. The Sunnyslope High School product was a tremendous prep athlete and was the number one rated high school player in the state of Arizona by SuperPrep.

The lifelong Sun Devils’ fan broke the hearts of ASU faithful when he signed a national letter of intent to play football at Pac-10 rival UCLA.

He opted to sign with them, and played three years in the Dodgers’ organization, advancing all the way to Triple-A before deciding baseball wasn’t for him.

As a 22-year old, Nixon decided to play football at Arizona State, and he’s been a fixture on the Sun Devils’ defense ever since. The senior leads the Sun Devils in tackles this season with 65, is tied for the team lead with 3 interceptions and has forced a team-high 3 fumbles.

On Saturday, Nixon’s interesting Sun Devil career comes to an end as Arizona State wraps up their 2009 season by hosting the Arizona Wildcats.

On Monday, Nixon talked to the media about his career and the upcoming game against the Wildcats.
