Last week my bout of bronchitis coincided with my Phoenix Coyotes losing 3 out of 4 games, Mikkel Boedker being sent down AGAIN, Zybnek Michalek and Ed Jovanovski are out with “lower body” injuries (seriously can we just say “groin” we are all adults here) and the Anaheim game was radio only..I hate listening to hockey! So basically a garbage week except for one bright spot.
I watched “Slapshot”, the 1977 hockey classic starring Paul Newman for the first time. Now I know what you are going to say “how can I any self respecting hockey fan call themselves a fan without having seen this movie!?!” You have to cut me some slack on this one. I am a “new ish” hockey fan and I grew up in a football household. So there I am bed ridden and surrounded by tissue, vick’s vapo rub, and ginger ale, in 2 day old PJ’s and phlegmy..lovely picture ain’t it? By the way guys, I am single. But this movie was the best thing that had happened to me all week. Even as dated as it was, it was hilarious and deserving of all the hype. Now I understand the mystique and wisdom of the Hanson Brothers and who can resist a plaid bell bottomed Paul Newman???
So as the bronchitis fades and my Coyotes get some rest before Thursday’s game against the Canadiens, I am looking forward to better times ahead.
Go Yotes!
