We’re at the midway point of the NFL season, so every national sports publication and web site is putting out their midseason NFL awards, All-Pro Teams, and even updated Super Bowl predictions.
Sporting News Today went the extra mile, conducting a poll of 99 NFL players on a number of topics ranging from the Rookie of the Year in the NFL, to the hardest hitter in the league, to even the players’ opinions on the league’s overtime rules and quality of tackling.
One of the more interesting questions centered around who the dirtiest player in the league is. With Rodney Harrison now sitting behind a desk at the NBC Studios at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, there’s many players to be considered.
But 12 players (12.1%) named St. Louis Rams guard, and Mountain Ridge High School product Richie Incognito as the dirtiest player in the NFL, edging out Pittsburgh receiver Hines Ward (9 votes) and Tennessee center Kevin Mawae (6 votes).
Another poll conducted by Sports Illustrated in their November 10th issue, asked 296 NFL players the same question, and Incognito ranked 7th in that poll.
Incognito is in his 5th year with the Rams, and has started 42 games on the St. Louis offensive line, including 7 this season.
