It wasn’t a top 25 opponent, or a Division I opponent for that matter, but it didn’t stop the Wildcats from gaining some much-needed confidence. The Cats pounded the Western New Mexico Mustangs 96-55. It’s hard to get too excited about an exhibition, let alone against a weaker school, but a couple of stats did stand out:
- Nic Wise was back in full effect scoring 21 points with 8 assists
- Jamelle Horne, showing he can be a force this year had 15 points and 9 rebounds
- Derrick Williams had 12 points and 3 rebounds before spraining his ankle
- All 15 players got court time
- Four Wildcats scored in double figures, including the three above and Brendan Lavender
This win definitely adds some excitement to the first game, which is on November 15 at 3PM against Northern Arizona. BRING IT ON!!!
