A postseason honor for Reynolds

Arizona Diamondbacks’ third baseman Mark Reynolds was named to the Sporting News National League All-Star team, released earlier today.

Reynolds enjoyed a great statistical season, hitting 44 home runs, driving in 102 runs, and stealing 24 bases, while hitting .260. He did set the Major League record for most strikeouts in a season for the second straight year, fanning 223 times.

Joining Reynolds on the NL squad are Yadier Molina (C), Albert Pujols (1B) and Ryan Franklin (RP) of the St. Louis Cardinals, Chase Utley (2B) and Jayson Werth (OF) of Philadelphia, Florida’s Hanley Ramirez (SS), Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers (OF), Dodgers’ star Matt Kemp (OF) and Giants right hander Tim Lincecum (SP).

Pujols was named the Sporting News Player of the Year.
