Australian left handed pitcher Josh Spence was a main cog for the 2009 Arizona State Sun Devils team that finished third in the College World Series in Omaha.
Spence will be a main cog in 2010, as the Devils will try to win college baseball’s biggest crown.
Spence has decided to come back to Tempe for his senior season instead of signing a pro contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, who chose him in the third round of June’s MLB Amateur Draft.
The 6 foot 1, 170 pound Spence went 10-1 last season for head coach Pat Murphy’s Pac-10 Champions.
After the press conference, Murphy asked to pose for a picture with Spence, but instead teammates Mitchell Lambson and Matt Newman attacked from behind, giving the Aussie the shaving cream in the towel facial. Obviously, his teammates are glad to have him back too.
Our Michael Kossett had a chance to sit down one-on-one with Spence to talk about his decision to return to school for his senior season.
