Three days ago, Doug Davis didn’t know what uniform he’d be wearing when he made his next start. The Milwaukee Brewers put a waiver claim in on Davis on Wednesday morning, but the Brewers and Diamondbacks couldn’t work out a deal in the allotted 48 hours, so Davis is still in the desert.
With that uncertainty behind him, the veteran left hander takes the hill at Chase Field tonight against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Davis is 7-10 this season with an ERA of 3.62. Davis has won his last two starts, going 7 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs in each them, wins over the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates.
Davis will be opposed by L.A.’s Hiroki Kuroda, a Japanese right hander who is 5-5 with a 4.21 ERA in ‘09.
