Many people were surprised when the Pac-10 preseason poll was released on Thursday. Surprised because the Arizona State Sun Devils, who had a very disappointing 2008 season, and face 2009 without an experienced quarterback on the roster, were picked to finish fifth.

Many believe the sole reason ASU was picked that high is because who their head coach is, and the respect he commands from others around the Pac-10 and college football.

Dennis Erickson is heading into his 3rd year as the head honcho at Arizona State, and sat down with myself and Michael Kossett of Fanster.com at Pac-10 Media Day in Los Angeles on Thursday to cover plenty of topics, including:

  • Pac-10 Media Day in general
  • The Sun Devils’ quarterback situation, and whether or not Danny Sullivan and Samson Szakacsy will split time in ‘09.
  • The fact that there’s plenty of uncertainty at the QB position all over the Pac-10.
  • The development of depth on the ASU roster.
  • and much more…
