Behind Shane Doan and Zbynek Michalek, Steven Reinprecht had the third-longest tenure with the Coyotes until he was traded to Florida on Friday.
The Coyotes’ career of winger Steven Reinprecht is now over, as the veteran and impending unrestricted free agent had his rights dealt by Phoenix to the Florida Panthers in exchange for left wing Stefan Meyer.
“Steven was a professional individual throughout his time in Phoenix and we wish to thank him for his service to our organization,” said Coyotes GM Don Maloney. “However, as a pending unrestricted free agent, we did not intend to re-sign him and we are excited to add a young prospect in Stefan Meyer to our organization.”
Reinprecht spent 3 and a half season as a member of the Coyotes after being acquired in a trade from Calgary that sent Mike Leclerc, Brian Boucher and Phillippe Sauve to the Flames in 2006. Reinprecht amassed 51 goals and 92 assists in his time with the Coyotes.
Meyer is 23-years old, stands 6′2″ and weighs 194 pounds. He played in 4 games for the Panthers in the 2007-08 season, and spent all of last year with the Rochester Americans of the AHL, scoring 18 goals and handing out 22 assists.
