The Arizona Diamondbacks have claimed right handed relief pitcher Blaine Boyer off waivers today from the St. Louis Cardinals.
Boyer is 27 years old and had a 4.41 ERA in 15 relief appearances with the Cardinals this season. He started the year with the Atlanta Braves, giving up 6 earned runs in 3 relief appearances before being traded to St. Louis.
In 5 seasons with Atlanta, Boyer went 6-9 with a 5.33 ERA in 144 games. In 2008, he appeared in 76 games, which was the 9th most in the National League.
