After starring at Apollo High School in Glendale, Bob Horner started dominating college baseball pitching at Arizona State University. In fact, Horner won the 1978 Golden Spikes Award for the nation’s best college player, he became the number one overall draft pick of Atlanta Braves that summer, and went on to win the National League Rookie of the Year Award that same season.
Horner ended up playing ten seasons in Major League Baseball, hitting 218 career home runs.
In this exclusive interview with Fanster.com, Horner discusses the 1977 ASU National Championship team, his development as a young player in Glendale, and being inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame.
