I didn’t get to watch the game last night since I was with my fiancee for her birthday (we went to ‘Rent’ at ASU), but it seemed as if our Mavericks Fail campaign backfired as some of my Twitter friends updated me the score from time to time. Each time, the Mavs would build a bigger lead over Detroit and it would lead to me getting angrier. I kept anticipating more and more hate mail from Mavs fans would filter in as the game wore down.
But…I didn’t get any. Not one. This surprised me.
Come to find out, the Pistons came back ferociously in the 4th quarter scoring 37 points to the Mavs 23. Rasheed Wallace and Rip Hamilton didn’t play (I had no idea), yet the Pistons only lost by 2 to the Mavs in Dallas.
Thus, the fail-safe and scientific conclusion that ocurred to me is that our Mavericks Fail campaign is working. How else could you explain the Mavs only putting up 23 points in the 4th quarter at home to a depleted Pistons team? Not to take anything away from the Pistons, but there really is no other explanation. I fully believe that no amount of negative energy directed towards the Mavericks could replace Rip Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace not playing.
However, the negative energy is already working…
The Mavs head to Atlanta on Thursday, then Indiana on Friday for a tough back-to-back. They then come home and play the Warriors and Nuggets before heading to Cleveland next Sunday.
/sends negative energy to the entire Mavs team.
In other news, the Lakers lost on a last second three pointer by Andre Iguodala. Again, this must be a side-effect of our negative energy. Though we always love to hate the Lakers, we need to shift our focus to Dallas, Suns fans.
