(TUCSON) — The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today that they have optioned right-handed pitcher Cesar Valdez to Reno (AAA), right-handed pitchers Jose Marte and Kyler Newby, left-handed pitcher Clay Zavada and infielder Pedro Ciriaco to Mobile (AA) and left-handed pitcher Leyson Septimo to Visalia (A). The club also announced that they have reassigned left-handed pitcher Daniel Schlereth and outfielder Rusty Ryal to minor league camp.
The D-backs now have 45 players in camp. The breakdown includes 21 pitchers (19 roster/2 non-roster); 5 catchers (3 roster/2 non-roster); 9 infielders (7 roster/2 non-roster) and 10 outfielders (5 roster/5 non-roster).
