Former Sun Rodney Rodgers talks about accident that left him paralyzed

18203817_240x180jpg Former Sun and NBA Sixth Man of the Year Rodney Rodgers was paralyzed from the shoulders down in December while riding a dirt bikes. In today’s Charlotte Observer Rodney talked about the accident and how it’s changed it’s life for the first time.

“We went riding dirt bikes,” he says, his voice soft and clear. “And going through the trail, I kind of hit a ditch and it flipped me over the handlebars. I thought I had my hands down. But I didn’t. Fell on my head. Broke my neck,” Rodgers told the Observer.

Rodgers goes into much detail about the accident and reveals the interesting fact that he was wearing a helmet and other padding at the time of the accident. Some of the details are rough but Rodney seems in pretty good spirits.
