The field of 64 golfers at the World Golf Championship-Accenture Match Play Championship has been trimmed to the final four, and two of the golfers standing have ties to Arizona.
Australian Geoff Ogilvy, who lives in Scottsdale, stormed into the semifinals at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Marana with a 2 and 1 victory over 19-year old Rory McIlroy to win the Bobby Jones Bracket. Ogilvy is now a sterling 15-2 lifetime at the Accenture Match Play Championship. He will face Stewart Cink in one semifinal match on Saturday.
Former Arizona State golfer Paul Casey, the 6th seed in the Gary Player Bracket, defeated Sean O’Hair 4 and 3. Casey moves into the semifinals, where he will take on Ross Fisher, who won the Sam Snead Bracket with a 2 and 1 win over Justin Leonard.
