Just when things were looking up for the Suns, the”Curse of the Coin Flip” popped its ugly head out of the sand and bit them in the ass again.
After firing Terry Porter and a return to the running system of old, the Suns won two games in a row in dominating fashion. Things seemed to be on the right track, when out of nowhere I see this on twitter:

After slapping myself in the face a couple of times to make sure I was awake and really seeing this I sunk into a deep state of depression. Just once I’d like to see the Suns have some sort of luck. As the saying goes “If it weren’t for bad luck I wouldn’t have any luck at all” That definately applies to the Suns.
Take a look at some of the things that have happened to this franchise:
After the expansion year of 1968-69 the NBA had a coin flip to determine the #1 draft pick for the next season - the Suns and Milwaukee were competing for the right to draft Lew Alcindor. The Suns missed the call and got the #2 pick, which they used to take…Neal Walk.
Fast forward to more recent memories - the Suns first Finals appearance was in 1976 and lost the greatest NBA game in history - a triple OT thriller to the Celtics - before losing the series in 6 games.
In 1993 the Suns were without Cedric Ceballos after he broke his foot earlier in the playoffs. Would they have beaten Jordan’s Bulls without him? Maybe not - but he certainly would have helped.
1994 - Charles Barkley injures his groin in the playoffs, and can’t carry the Suns past Houston as the Suns blow a 2-0 series lead in the second round.
1995 - Danny Manning tears his ACL and the Suns can’t get past Houston in the playoffs
1996 -After a bad trade (Hot Rod Williams for Dan Majerle) the Suns struggle. Paul Westphal is fired, and the Suns rally to finish at .500 and make the playoffs. Then, Michael Finley sprains his ankle in the playoffs as the Suns bow out in round one.
1997 - The Suns trade Sir Charles for four bags of crap and start out the season 0-13. They actually make the playoffs.
1998 - Danny Manning tears his ACL (again) and the Suns are ousted in round one.
1999-2004 - Nothing memorable
2005 - Jerry Stackhouse breaks Joe Johnson’s face. Suns lose to Spurs in Conference Finals
2006 - Amare out with microfracture. Suns get to Conference Finals before Raja Bell’s calf injury is too much to overcome
2007 - David Stern takes over
2008 - Steve Kerr tried to fix what wasn’t broken - and it broke.
2009 - ???
