Rumor of the Day: Portland (again)

*I cannot say this enough - despite the previous rumor I posted involving Portland, I have not heard this offer first hand or directly from a source.  I’m only reporting what is the latest rumor.

Bright Side first posted the updated article this morning, but it appears that my initial source’s information about a potential Portland trade weren’t all that crazy!  Truthfully, I can’t see why Portland would do this deal.  It’d be terrific for the Suns though! 

The Sporting News is reporting that the latest offer (rumor) for Amare is LaMarcus Aldridge, Jerryd Bayless, and Raef Lafrentz’s expiring contract. However, if this is indeed a legit offer, I may have to take back my previous post about my favorite trade scenario…

This would give us a solid forward (4) to build around, as well as an incredibly talented PG, along with an expiring contract in Lafrentz.  We wouldn’t have any picks in the deal, but we wouldn’t need them with the players we are getting back.

I would have an EXTREMELY hard time believing there is any truth to this since there is a saying around Blazer’s Edge that “Bayless will leave…over their dead body.”  And based on my talks with Blazers fellas, KP will not put Aldridge or Bayless on the market.  I wouldn’t either if I were him.

But, this does come from The Sporting News, and it’s probably the best offer (rumor) I’ve heard yet.  Whether or not it’s actually on the table, I have my doubts.
