- Is Coach Porter next?
After Saturday’s night embarassing 122-111 loss to the Bulls, I think pressure will mount heavely on Coach Porter (AP Photo/Chuck Burton). If the Suns fail to turn around the season with a solid winning streak, I feel Coach Porter could will pay the price.
The Suns could find themselves out of the playoff picture very soon. The first losing month in more than 4 years (6-7 in January) means the Suns will have to regroup now or risk missing the playoffs.
I don’t think Terry Porter is indeed the Suns killer, he’s simply the wrong man in the wrong place. It’s not his fault, it was wrong from the beginning.
I don’t think firing Porter halfway through the season will make sense nor help this team. Then, comes May, I think Sarver should fire him and GM Steve Kerr. Something has to be done, maybe it’s better planning for next season already.
The Suns have failed to develop an identity, unless you can name inconsistency as one, on both sides of the court. The new (Kerr-driven) system has killed the offense (leading the league in turnovers) and exposed more weaknesses on defense despite the fact the Suns have improved some (opponents shooting pct. is 5th best in the West). Nash, Stoudemire, Barbosa and Co. are all very unhappy. Shaq could win a few games by himself, not the league.
Suns “just can’t do it”, so far. Did it end tonight? Will Terry Porter pay the price?
Yours truly, Steve Fan
