Steve Nash on not being selected to the All-Star team in Phoenix:
“Of course it would have been a great honor to make it, but I probably didn’t deserve it,” Nash said. “We had a first month of the season where we weren’t really ourselves, and the team’s in seventh place. You know, I spent a month of the season just walking up the court and throwing the ball in the post so, it’s hard to be an All-Star like that. And we didn’t win enough games that month, so, I probably didn’t deserve it.”
That quote led to four distinct reactions from me:
- I feel bad for the guy, but at the same time, have tremendous respect for him. In a time where people campaign to be an All-Star that don’t even deserve it (cough…Amare…cough), he says he doesn’t deserve it. That’s the definition of integrity.
- I feel bad at how he’s had to sacrifice his play this year, and much of it goes overlooked or people think he’s on the decline. Not true.
- He is 100% right. For an entire month, all he did was dump it into the post. Ugh.
- Sad times on Planet Orange.
