FSN Arizona’s Jody Jackson Checks in With Fanster: Thursday Recap from Super Bowl XLIII

Things are heating up in Tampa, except the weather which has turned to rain and cooler temps. But the friends and family for the Cardinals have arrived. The team’s second charter flew in today and now you get a sense that the big game is just days away.
I ran into Darnell Dockett and Antonio Smith with family at a nearby restaurant and I asked if practiced got rained out at all, and they said just at the very end. That’s about right, because practice was from 1-3 and my videographer, Rusty Francisco, and I got rained out of our outdoor shooting at around 2:45. Good news is more sun tomorrow, and that means prettier pictures for TV!
Oh and the rain put a big damper on the NFL experience today, so I know the crowds and the kids are looking forward to Friday.
I had the chance to talk to Archie Manning today and he told me that much like his son Eli’s Giants last year, if the Cards can hang around until the end, they could pull it off. Watch our preview show on Fox Sports Arizona on Friday night at 9:30 p.m. to hear more of what Archie had to say, and also hear predictions from Michael Irvin, Matt Hasselbeck and Brian Billick. As you can tell Rusty and I were busy finding NFLer’s to talk to on radio row! I also plan to catch up with former Cardinals legends Larry Wilson and Larry Centers for their thoughts on the game.
I thanked Ben Graham today, for the fact that I am doing an interview with ABC tomorrow. Yes, the Australian Broadcasting Company. He’s big Down Under….first Aussie to play in the Super Bowl. And to think he was out of work in October!
Going to try to go to bed early tonight… Another 6 am wake up. This time to meet with NFL Man of the Year candidates. Kurt Warner is up for it along with Brian Dawkins and Matt Birk. Because Kurt has practice, his wife Brenda will be there in his place and I look forward to getting a chance to chat with her. That’s all for now….72 hours til kick-off.
