The following is a special blog from Fox Sports Arizona’s Jody Jackson who will check in from Tampa to update Cardinals fans exclusively on Fanster.com:
Today felt very much like business for the football team. Remember yesterday, they had a good portion of the day off, and that is strange for a bunch of guys living in a hotel. Too little time to do much but go out to eat, but almost time enough to feel bored or not know what to do.
The team hotel is off almost on an island of its own. It’s beautiful and pretty quiet. In contrast, the Steelers’ hotel is across from a mall, so those players are dealing with a lot of autograph seekers and fans. The Cards hotel is all decked out in red with huge logos and a big picture of Kurt Warner as you come in.
The crowds are picking up a bit, but I suspect most people will arrive for the Super Bowl over the next few days. I will be out looking for Cards fans downtown and show them some love on our “Qwest Cardinals Live” preview show Friday night at 9:30 p.m. It’s great to see the longtime fans come out of the woodwork now that the Cards are in the big game. Some go back to St. Louis and others all the way to Chicago.
The practice reports for the Super Bowl are filed by a pool reporter. This year for the NFC the reporter is Foxsports.com’s John Czarnecki. He wrote today that all Arizona’s injured players (like Travis LaBoy and Antonio Smith) practiced on a limited basis. I did not see anything on J.J. Arrington so I assume that means he was able to practice. J.J. was limited with a knee injury last week.
The clip with Sapp on NFL Network was fun… I think I surprised him with the news that I was a fellow Miami Hurricane. We talked about the “U” but that didn’t make the PKG they ran. I have to think Sapp is pulling for the Cards. Arizona has three Canes — Edge, Antrel Rolle and Calais Campbell. The Steelers, well, they have zero Miami guys. Only Miami of Ohio’s Ben Roethlisberger. He doesn’t count.
Advantage AZ!
Goodnight from Tampa!
