Soon to be Dr. Shaq?

An interesting tidbit from Shaquille O’Neal yesterday. Apparently Shaq is working hard on his doctorate and no, he’s not working toward becoming Dr. Dunk.

O’Neal, according to his twitter page, is working on his doctorate in human resource development.

His reasoning?

Why Because I’m a people person

Just ask Kobe Bryant and Erik Dampier.

For those of you wondering what exactly human resource development is, and no it’s not what a teenage boy goes through, here is the about.com’s explanation:

Human Resource Development is the framework for helping employees develop their personal and organizational skills, knowledge, and abilities. Human Resource Development includes such opportunities as employee training, employee career development, performance management and development, coaching, succession planning, key employee identification, tuition assistance, and organization development.

The focus of all aspects of Human Resource Development is on developing the most superior workforce so that the organization and individual employees can accomplish their work goals in service to customers.

Makes you wonder if after his playing days Shaq might be adding head coach to his long list of titles.
