Steve Fan had a fantastic idea for this week’s Pick and Roll feature. We’ve both penned letters to Sun-ta, letting the big fella know what we’d like for Christmas this year.

Mark’s letter…

Dearest Santa,

I want so much, there’s almost too much to list. Here goes:

• the Suns dancers. All of them
• DE-FENSE! DE-FENSE! DE-FENSE! Steve Kerr and Terry Porter have proved to be completely full of it so far. We’re still waiting for the defense they talk so much about to show up
• a happy Steve Nash. When Steve’s happy, Suns fans are happy.
• the transformation of Amare into “the man.”
• minutes for Jared Dudley. The kid needs to get some run.
• torn ACL, MCL, and PCL in BOTH of Kobe Bryant’s knees (I realize this is asking a lot)
• Coach Porter using a timeout BEFORE an opposing team’s run reaches 14-2 or higher
• Rajon Rondo and Rudy Fernandez. For just one day.

Pretty tall order, I know, but please, do what you can. I promise to stop screaming at the television when things don’t go the Suns way.

Steve Fan’s letter…

Dear Sun-ta,

This year I have been a very good Suns fan. I have followed the team with great passion, with joy in victories and misery in defeats. I bought plenty of official merchandise, including a Raja no. 19 home jersey a couple of days before he was sent packing for North Carolina. I even read the Suns Media Guide every night before sleeping, dreaming of the ‘93 Finals and hoping that Horry-ble ghost won’t ruin my sweet sleep.

I know there are fans who lost their NBA team this year for whom this will be a very sad Christmas thanks to the Grinch from Oklahoma City. Bring them joy and a new arena.

I hadn’t written you in quite some times, I felt you had much more important things to do on the North Pole in Planet Orange since we had already been blessed with the greatest basketball show in our history.

If you don’t mind I would like to find a Phoenix Suns Dreamseat Leather Chairunder the tree. It should look good in front of my TV set and I think I would feel great watching the Suns and the Spurs on Christmas Day. In case you won’t be able to deliver it on time, could you please send Kaylayour assistant with the Chair?

I guess asking a win over Duncan, Manu and Co. would be too much?

There’s another thing or two that you could do for me. I would be very happy if you could bring a new best friend for my hero, Steve Nash. Steve is feeling lonely and betrayed because he lost his buddy Raja. I don’t know if you could do something but it will be greatly appreciated. I guess trading Dirk Nowitzki to Phoenix won’t be possible. I am afraid he could be leaving for New York soon.

Also I would like to give a Defense to Terry Porter. I am not asking for the ‘89 Pistons or the ‘96 Bulls, but maybe one that could allow less than 100 points every time or a season-high to the Devin Harris-es of this World.

Please say Merry Christmas to Steve “The Master Elf” Kerr who has been very busy with Christmas deals over the last few weeks and I am very happy he brought us a new shooting guard. Tell him we need a real backup point guard as well.
