The Suns will sign Illinois Alum Dee Brown to fill their 13th roster spot tomorrow, December 24th. Brown was recently starting for the Wizards before being overlooked in a suddenly guard-heavy Wizards roster due to the acquisitions of Mike James and Javaris Crittendon via trade.
“He’s got a lot of quickness and he plays really hard,” Suns GM, Steve Kerr said. “He’ll pick up full-court defensively and make people work. In practice situations, we need that energy.”
For a little reminder, here is a glimpse of one of his better games in college against Michigan. You can clearly see he has the ability to anticipate where the pass is going on defense and plays with a lot of intensity.
What do you guys think? Was this the right move? They also looked at veteran (aka washed up) point guards in Damon Stoudamire and Troy Hudson. I love Dee Brown’s quickness and I think he’ll be a great fit for the Suns who now have a very deep team in every position. We’ll see if this is the last of their moves depending on the amount/lenght of his contract. I’m thinking it will be more than just a 10-day deal.
