“The laws of physics state that ‘a body in motion stays in motion,’” Shaq told Suns.com. “And if you have two objects that meet in air, the smaller object is going to fall much harder at the same rate of speed it was going. I’ve never been the type of player to take anyone out - I was going for the ball. He fell and he added a little bit to the end. The referees looked at how he fell, I think. It’s nothing I’m worried about; I’ve never been that type of player. If you understand physics like that, anytime you come in there out of control like that and you run into a brick wall, you’re going to get that effect.”
Those were Shaq’s quotes after the game and there is no denying that Shaq is a mountain of a man but is he right or were the refs justified in calling a flagrant foul on O’Neal?

Shaq is completely right with his assessment. If you watch the video he is going for the ball and doesn’t really make contact with Stuckey outside of his hands.
Stuckey is a small guy that made the mistake of taking it down the lane and ran into that “immovable object”.
He deserved the foul but throwing O’Neal out of the game was uncalled for.
At least this week proves that the Suns are no longer soft.
This was clearly a bad call. I can see how in real time the refs might have thought it was flagrant, but if you look at the replay, it was Shaq going for the ball and getting his arm caught on Stuckey’s body.
If he gets fined, there will be hell to pay!
It doesn’t matter..the bottom line is, a guard drove into the lane against the Phoenix Suns, and got knocked on his ass! How many years have I been waiting to say this.
That being said, it was a ridiculous call and looked a lot worse than it was because of Stuckey’s less than graceful fall. Shaq can’t help it if he’s bigger and stronger than everyone else in the game. He didn’t even make contact with Stuckey’s body.
