Coyotes Beat Penguins 4-1

After dropping three straight games and a long layoff the Coyotes were in dire need of a victory at home Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The teams stars answered the call as and led the way scoring a combine 3 goals, 2 for Doan 1 for Jokinen, in the Coyotes 4-1 victory.

Coyotes netminder was impressive after sitting out the last two games as he stopped 27 of the 28 shots he faced against the talented Penguins.

Along with solid play the Desert Dogs got some help from the hockey gods as Penguins star Sidney Crosby sat out the third period with an undisclosed injury and right winger Miroslav Satan was given a 10 minute misconduct penalty half way through the final period.

The win improves the Coyotes to 4-4 on the season and 3-1 at Jobing.com Arena. Next up for the Coyotes is the Minnesota Wild Saturday at Jobing.com Arena with the puck dropping at 7pm.

Takeaways:
As a young club the Yotes will have their ups and downs but they are proving early on that they will protect their home ice. Outside of allowing 18 shots to their 8 in the second period Phoenix played a great game. Also good to see Doan and Jokinen having an impact.
