I can’t dislike the Hornets

There’s actually about a minute left in the game as I write this, but really, the contest was over when James Posey and Rasual Butler combined to hit their 34th three-pointer in the fourth quarter. It was tough to watch the Suns keep themselves within striking distance and cut the lead down to five only to find 3’s raining down upon them, but their effort should nonetheless be applauded.

This victory for the Hornets now makes it five straight over the Suns. By forcing a whopping 24 turnovers, they were able to stay in control throughout the game and get the win.

Again, it was tough to watch, but unlike the Lakers and Spurs, and even though they now damn near officially own the Suns, the Hornets are a pretty tough team for me to love to hate. Chris Paul is about as good as they get in running the point, Peja and Morris Petersen are silky smooth from the outside, and David West and James Posey both do whatever it takes to win (a trait no doubt hammered into them at my dad’s alma mater, Xavier University. GO X!)  Hell, their head coach is even a Sun Devil.

They definitely have what it takes to be a force for quite some time and while their lack of depth could be an issue this year or even next for all we know, I really enjoy watching them play.

Except of course when they beat a game Suns team who was in it up until two minutes to go despite their aforementioned 24 turnovers.
