Former Phoenix Suns point guard Jason Kidd had an interesting comment today.
He told Dan Bickley that if they win the gold medal he will be giving it away.
At first I thought, OK sounds kind of cool, is he giving it to his son, a terminally ill child, or maybe to his now ex-girlfriend as a parting gift?
No. He’ll be giving his medal to Elaine Wynn wife of Vegas casino tycoon Steve Wynn.
Seems a little off, but Kidd explains it all by telling Bickley:
“Last summer, we stayed at the Wynn (resort) for a lifetime, close to three weeks,” Kidd said. “We met at a banquet, we got to talking, and she really understands the game. I told her I’d make a deal with her, that if we won the gold medal, I’d give it to her. She thought I was kidding. But I told her I had one already, and the way they treated us at the Wynn, it was the least I could do.”
Sure, that’s normal. I always give something that I worked hard to accomplish and earn to a stranger because they took care of me. In fact I stayed at the Motel 6 last week and since they left the light on for me I told them they could have my college diploma. Don’t worry I already have one from high school.
It makes you wonder just how good the “service” was there at the Wynn. Hopefully Kidd doesn’t have a touch of the Barkleyitis, and is paying off that great service with some precious medals.
Hey, shouldn’t Joumana get half of that medal? Just a thought…
