Randy Johnson allowed just 5 hits and 2 runs over 6 innings, and delivered an rbi single in the 6th inning as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Colorado Rockies 4-2 at Coors Field in Denver.
Johnson improved his record to 10-8 on the season and earned his 294th career win, and his 17th career win over Colorado. The Diamondbacks have feasted on the Rockies this season, going 9-1 to this point.
Chad Tracy opened the scoring in the 2nd inning, hitting a 2-run home run off of Rockies’ starter Ubaldo Jimenez (8-10). The Rockies came right back in the bottom half of the second inning, on a solo blast by Chris Iannetta, and an rbi double by Ian Stewart. The Diamondbacks broke the tie in the 6th on an rbi double by Chris Snyder which made it 3-2 before Johnson tacked on an insurance run with his base hit to right field that scored Snyder.
Adam Dunn made his Diamondbacks’ debut, batting cleanup and playing right field. Dunn went 1 for 3 on the night with a double and 2 walks.
Brandon Lyon worked a perfect 9th inning for his 25th save of the season.
