Imagine this, you have accepted a job with a company but decide never to start there, and never work one day for them. The following year the company files a grievance against you in order to recoup money that your previous employer paid you. Crazy right?
Not if you are former Arizona State and Cardinals quarterback Jake Plummer.
Plummer was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last off season and then retired before ever stepping on the field. Tampa decided to try and get back a $7 million dollar signing bonus which the Denver Broncos paid him.
The Bucs and Plummer reached an agreement that gives Tampa $3.5 million of the $7 million paid to Plummer.
The Bucs not only gain the cash but will gain $3.5 million in salary cap space as well, which they need to fill Jon Gruden’s fetish for quarterbacks.
A pretty good deal for the Bucs.
Is there any way that the Cardinals fans can file a grievance to get back the hours they wasted on watching Plummer play quarterback? Eh, it was worth a shot.
