Johnson’s milestone overshadowed by another lackluster team performance
Randy Johnson struck out Mike Cameron swinging in the 1st inning in Milwaukee tonight, to record his 4,673rd career K, and move past Roger Clemens into 2nd place on the all-time list.
That’s where the Diamondback highlights ended.
Ryan Braun tagged Johnson for a 2-run home run in the 6th, while Prince Fielder and Tucson product J.J. Hardy went yard off Max Scherzer in the 8th, adding up to a 7-1 Brewers’ win at Miller Park.
Johnson did strike out 8, but was saddled with his 2nd loss of the season. Seth McClung pitched 6 strong innings for the Milwaukee win.
The D-Backs offense continued to struggle, as they only managed one base runner after the 4th inning, and that was a walk issued to Mark Reynolds in the 6th inning. Yuck.
Here’s what they’re saying elsewhere about the Big Unit’s achievement, and the Brewers’ 7-1 victory

Thankfully, for the Diamondbacks, this year’s stay in Milwaukee ends Wednesday. Micah Owings (6-3, 4.17 ERA) will try to salvage the finale for Arizona, while Manny Parra (3-2, 4.72 ERA) throws for the Brew Crew. You might want to take an early lunch, as first pitch is at 11:05 AM Arizona time.
