A story in the Arizona Republic yesterday read "Shaq leases former PV home of Emmitt Smith for one-year lease with a one-year option. "
The headline got me to thinking, is Shaq's time in the desert destine to be like Emmitt's?
Both players are considered greats in their respective sports. Both came to the valley at the tail end of their illustrious careers. It can also be argued that Emmitt was grossly over paid for his skill sets at the time the way Shaq is with the Suns (Although Shaq is making $16 Million more a year than Emmitt did).
For the Suns and their fans let's hope the similarities end there. Smith during his exodus in the desert only had 1193 yards and 11 touchdowns in two seasons. That two year total was worse than 9 individual seasons Smith posted over his 15 year career.
Too bad the Suns couldn't lease Shaq for a year with a one year option.
