Lincecum, Giants down D-Backs 6-3

Share

The Arizona Diamondbacks got their first look at Giants’ right hander Tim Lincecum for 2008, and they didn’t like what they saw. Lincecum mowed down the D-Backs for 7 1/3 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs while striking out 7 in San Francisco’s 6-3 win Tuesday night at Chase Field.

Bengie Molina delivered the big blow for the Giants, crushing a 3-run homer off D-Backs starter Dan Haren in the 3rd. Trailing 6-1 in the 8th, Arizona managed 2 runs, before Tyler Walker got catcher to fly to right field, ending the threat.

Other news: Look for a steady diet of Jeff Salazar patrolling left field for the Diamondbacks, as Eric Byrnes was placed on the 15-day DL. was recalled from AAA Tucson to take Byrnes’ roster spot.
