Well this one is just a shocker!! This has been all over the news locally and many are up in arms, over the ASU Cheerleading Squad getting the axe after “racy” photos appeared on TheDirty.com.
The most shocking part of this whole story, is that even though only 6 members of the squad were posing in the “racy” pictures, the ENTIRE squad got cut. It just doesn’t make sense:
The cheerleaders told MyFOXPhoenix that the photographs were a result of college kids goofing off, and they believe the decision to disband the team has been in the works for a while. The photographs are two years old, and were taken at a "cheer party."
Are you kidding me? Two years old? Lisa Love(VP of Athletics) cut the entire squad over two year old photos????
Here is a bit more from an official email from Lisa Love to TheDirty.com:
NO cheer squad next year at ANY football, basketball or other sporting event games. The only form of "cheer squad" that will remain is the megaphones and signs. Which will not be called the cheerleaders, but instead "Sparky's Crew."
There is something going on here and we are going to dig it up! There is no reason the world should be without these ASU cheerleaders…at least not over this.

Hey Hub, there’s an update on this item at:
http://blogs.usatoday.com/gameon/2008/05/asu-denies-chee.html
The cheerleading squad isn’t going to be eliminated.
I just caught the story while looking for something else and I think that the coach has her own agenda here. The pics are a little much…well actually not enough clothing! The problem here is that these are young adults so discuss why it is a problem, make them sit out a few games and get on with your life. The thing seems like goofing off going a little far. The girls not involved, should not be punished at all. The coach needs to rethink her position as a leader and teacher and use her skills as a teacher to make the situation a learning experiance for these yound women…has she never done anything that she later thought was wrong….hello…get over yourself.
