Diamondbacks Beat Cubs 5-4

Cubs ace Carlos Zambrano pitched a scoreless 3 innings and hit a home. But the Cubs still lost.

D’Backs starter Juan Gutierrez was perfect over two innings, but hot prospect Max Scherzer gave up three runs in two innings-including two home runs. He also threw a wild pitch.

Emilio Bonifacio, who got hit in the head Tuesday, did not play Wednesday. He says he’ll be alright. But he hopes it doesn’t happen again. We hope so, too. He didn’t get up right away and had to have assistance walking back to the dugout. Manager Bob Melvin said Bonifacio was woozy. Excedrin headache No. 315.

Stephen Drew was out with the flu. First Webb, now Drew. Let’s see who else. Flu goes through a clubhouse like mad. Good thing it’s happened early. Everybody who is going to get it should have it well behind them by Opening Day.

Eric Byrnes did not play yesterday.

Dan Haren makes his second spring start today. It’s against a familiar rival: The KC Royals.
