(Photo: Jonathan Hayward/Canadian Press) Up in the great Northwest at Steve’s Place (Vancouver, Canada) the Sonics beat the Suns, 121-108 to complete the preseason at 5-3 and finally moving on to the real games. The game was very close for the most part, especially in the first half, while in the end Chris Wilcox’s 27 points and seven Sonics in double figures (non of whom was named Durant back in Seattle resting his ankle) proved to be the difference; former Sun Kurt Thomas added 19 on 8-12 shooting.
Good news on the Suns side as Amare Stoudemire showed he’s ready and fully recovered from his knee problem as he played 25 minutes and scored 23 (8-9 from the field including a 3-pointer) to go with 11 boards and a couple of blocks. Not much more to report other than Tucker’s 13 points and Steve’s 12 assists to delight his hometown crowd.
So finally the preseason is over and the League could move on. The Suns had a good preseason with lots of fans’ enthusiasm surrounding them on every occasion and seem ready to go. Grant Hill seems a great addition, Amare looks healthy, Coach D’Antoni as usual in control…so Planet Orange is ready to take off.
The Suns opens the season in Seattle on Thursday night. Finally, the 2007/08 run for the Championship is on! The goal is clear, the journey will be long and full of obstacles, but it’s time to go. 1-2-3 Suns !
Yours truly, Steve Fan
