As expected, the Ottawa Senators came out to fight and make the Anaheim Ducks earn the right to raise the Cup. They found a way to win.
The go ahead goal of the night was initiated by former Phoenix Coyotes player Oleg Saprykin. Through a strong Senators forecheck led by Saprykin, Dean McAmmond scored the Senators fourth goal, where Ducks defenseman Chris Pronger tipped the puck past his goaltender J.S. Giguere.
Sometimes when fighting for a championship, people will do anything they can to win at any cost. In order to make amends for the game winning goal getting past his goaltender, Pronger finds a way to get even with McAmmond.
Lord Stanley’s Cup can do plenty of things to a man's psyche, where the measure of a hockey player is boldly determined by the immortality of a name written on a trophy; some rise through it and find honor in the competition, while others will find any way to win at any cost.
Once again Ducks defenseman Chris Pronger will have controversy that will surround him because of an elbow that he used on McAmmond's head as McAmmond skated through the neutral zone into the Ducks end.
One thing is certain; there is a series and nothing is decided until one team wins four games.
