The Phoenix Suns plan to name Steve Kerr as the team’s President of Basketball Operations and General Manager in the coming days, replacing Mike D’Antoni as the team GM to keep his focus on coaching.
All I have to say right now….is bring on the Championship. Love Steve Kerr. Not sure about his GM skills, but honestly, anything is better than D’Antoni trying to do this all himself. I have faith in my fellow alumnus. Bring on the ring!

So here we go again. Leinart’s on the move…Out of his house. According to the Arizona Republic…Leinart’s Ahwatukee mansion can…
be yours, if you can swing the $2.4 million price tag.
The Tuscan-style estate has six bedrooms, 6.5 baths, 9-foot flat ceilings, and a game room. The kitchen features Viking appliances and two sub-zero refrigerators.
For only $2.4 million you can have the home of your dreams. I’m pretty sure I could buy about one toilet worth of that house. The bottom line here is that Leinart and the HOA did not get along. And then there were the traffic incidents. We should all hope that the sale of his home goes a lot smoother than his driving.
Note to the listing agent. If you need to keep Leinart and his buddies out of the home during showings, just paint a goal line around the home. They won’t be able to cross that.
One mistake can cost you the game and it's a lesson the Senators are learning all too quickly as they are now down 2-0 to the Anaheim Ducks.
The distance between winning and losing is a very fine line. If the Senators scored on their 5-on-3 opportunity on Monday night, and on their next 5-on-3 opportunity last night, I posit that the complexion of the series would be much different.
Instead, the Senators come up short, the Ducks line of Samuel Pahlsson, Rob Niedermayer, and Travis Moen are just better than the checking line from the Senators squad as well as the Senators top line.
What the Ducks get is support from their supporting cast and that's the key to winning a series.
Pahlsson nutmegs Joe Corvo with a shot where Corvo's back is to the attacking player. Don't ask me how that happens, but it does and it’s an incredible shot by Pahlsson.
And now the Sens are in the same position as the Buffalo Sabres last week: trying to find a way to win against huge odds.
The Coyotes have strong prospects coming through their system. Peter Mueller and Hanzal tore up the Western Hockey League. Hanzal scored 85 points (26 goals and 59 assists) and Mueller had 78 points (21 goals and 57 assists). Both players look to be the foundation for the youth movement in the Coyotes organization and both are solid young players that teams covet.
Hanzal has been with the Red Deer Rebels for one season. Anyone playing under Brent Sutter quickly learns how to succeed in the NHL. Just look at Cam Ward, Colby Armstrong, Martin Erat, and Dion Phaneuf for examples.
The Phoenix Coyotes have four prospects that The Hockey Newslisted in their top 50. Mueller was 7th, Hanzal was 30th, Blake Wheeler, the University of Minnesota product was 35th, and Keith Yandle was listed 50th.
When these players develop, and some might say that Mueller, Hanzal, and Yandle are close, the Coyotes franchise looks to be solid. In addition, the Coyotes picked up draft picks at the trade deadline that allows them the flexibility to improve their squad even further.
Even though it might be tough for Coyotes fans to wait for these players to turn into NHL veterans, it will be worth it at the end.
I’ve been in the car all day so I missed shockwave sent through the NBA with Kobe Bryant demanding a trade…before being chilled out by Phil Jackson. Kobe may be openly loathed but I doubt there is any basketball fan who wouldn’t want the guy on their team. The thought of a Kobe/Nash backcourt could start a seizure. Sidenote: Remember when Kobe and Ray Allen had beef a few years back. It all stemmed from Ray Allen saying that Kobe forced the team to trade Shaq so he could be the man and when the team struggled he would ask for a trade. Kobe is apparently very sensistive about that accusation.
Kobe’s nemesis respected foe, Raja Bell is nominated for PETA’s Sexiest Vegetarian and they wrote Ra to pass on the opportunity to VOTE for the Suns’ guard. I am a vegetarian personally and I’m all about repping the Suns- but how can you not vote for Mos Def?
I live in Austin, Texas now and during the drive out I noticed some interesting billboards. Manu Ginobili is pushing broadband services with a ‘Go for 3′ (cable, internet, phone) slogan. I saw another with David Robinson in street clothes in what appeared to be an ad for water heaters. I guess that’s consistent with the image of the Spurs- fundamentals. If I see Tony Parker hawking coat hangers, I’m convinced.
The Dbacks, according to azcentral.com, have come to terms with the number 9 pick in the 2006 Amateur draft. The Scott Boras client and the Diamondbacks came to terms on what is being reported as a $4 Million deal similar to that signed by Craig Hasen last year with the Boston Red Sox.
Scherzer had pitched for the independent Fort Worth Cats. In 16 innings pitched he was 1-0 with a 0.56 ERA striking out 25 while walking only 4 and opponents hitting .164 off him in 3 starts.
The changes begin. Marc Iavaroni, probably more of a part of the Suns’ success over the past few years than we realize, is leaving the Suns to coach the Grizzlies. I’m excited for him. I think he’ll make an awesome coach. I’m sad for us and for the Suns. He has done a lot for the players and to help them succeed.
My only request when Mike D’Antoni hires a replacement. Find a guy who will actually help to keep the players on the bench where there is an altercation!
Gotta love this one. When I first saw the link I was actually trying to figure out why I hadn’t seen it yet. Then I realized that the NBA is not that smart. Just look at what Stern did to the Suns! Enjoy…
